Rotaract Bahari and JKUAT Pwani Central e-installation

Rotaract Club of Bahari and Rotaract JKUAT Pwani Central, last weekend converged both online and in person at Barka restaurant Mombasa, where they held a joint e-installation function to usher in new leadership.

Supported by their parent clubs, Rotary Bahari and Rotary Mombasa Central, the meeting was presided over by DRR Kennedy Gaya, the president of the Rotary Mombasa Central. Gaya re-affirmed their vows as Rotaract club members, before handing over the ceremonial leadership mantle and Rotary Bell.

With the challenges presented by the Covid-19 global pandemic, Rotaract have turned to the internet to conduct their club business. In Mombasa they have several Rotaract clubs and over the weekend, two clubs pulled their resources together and held their announcement of new Presidents and Board of Directors.

While adhering to the set guidelines set by the Ministry of health, there was a ceremonial cake cutting followed by a luncheon with the members who were invited to the occasion.
Incoming Rotaract Bahari President Nelly Wanjiru told Gilitics Media that “it was a successful e-installation and congratulations to the new president of Rotaract JKUAT Pwani Central and the appointed Board of Directors of both Rotaract Bahari and Rotaract JKUAT Pwani central.”
Rotary year normally starts in July and runs through to June the following year. The Rotary 2020- 2021 year has began with the “Theme Rotary opens Opportunities”, this means new leadership is taking over the different clubs across different levels all over the world.
Rotary consists of Rotary, Rotaract and Interact.The subdivisions are dependent on age groups. Rotaract Club majorly focuses on young adults aged between 18 and 30 years old. However, there are rules that allow for compromises and other complex issues that might arise as per given circumstances which allow membership outside the age limit.
