Milka Ngare Elected National Chair of Women Coccus for CAF

It was all joy and jubilation yesterday, as a Nominated member in the Mombasa County Assembly, Hon. Milkah Ngare, was elected as the National Chair of the Women Coccus for County Assemblies Forum.
Elections were done electronically via Zoom from noon to 5 PM, with the control room being the CAF headquarters in Nairobi. The CEO of CAF, madam Judy Oduma, and Secretary-General Chepkwony, presided over the elections, acting as the returning officers, while being assisted by other volunteers.
Hon. Ngare was initially the vice-chair of the CAF and upon elevation of the then chair, Madam Milka Wanjiru from Nyandarua, to the County Executive Council as the Minister for Water and natural resources in her county, she assumed the position of chair-lady in an acting capacity.
Speaking to Gilitics media she said, “My main objective as the national chair, will be to advocate for women issues in all the county assemblies and ensure that there are enough capacity building activities to empower women” she further stated that “I shall ensure that women MCAs are made to understand their mandate in terms of formulating legislation, achieving proper representation and oversight.”
Ngare has been a vocal supporter of women’s rights, a champion for ensuring proper representation of women in positions of power is achieved, so as to achieve a status quo that is suitable for the fair distribution of resources.
In recent times, she has been involved with philanthropic activities in Bamburi Ward, Kisauni Constituency where she has helped women and girls at the grassroots level with their businesses , School and personal hygiene products during this coronavirus pandemic.
