SEMI FINALS FOR TALANTA AJIRA

By Syombua Kameta
Talanta Ajira semi finals qualifiers were held on Friday, 27th November 2020 at White Rhino Hotel in Mombasa.
The goal of the competition is to empower the youth on their financial well-being as a way to deter them from drug use, bad company, crime, as these issues have plagued our community time and again.
A good number of contestants of about 70 turned out for the auditions, 20 participants will now proceed to the finals after being shortlisted.
In the dance category there was Anonymous, Columbus, RDC and T dancers. Rappers: Lenny, Blinks, Williams and Phylicia Rogers. Juma Ibrahim, also known as ‘Malenga wa Kongowea’, managed to secure the spoken word category. In poetry, there was one undisputed Chizi Msafi, and Penny for the drama category. As for singers, Buker, Christian, Chichi, Abel and Emma qualified for the finals.
Bryan Juma who is behind the whole operation stated that, all he wanted to do was to lend a hand especially during a pandemic as many have lost their jobs. Youths are out in the streets with nothing to occupy them and no source of income. “I was moved by how talented these youths are as I mingled with them. Some are even more talented than the big artists out there”, said Juma.
For him, with guidance and a platform, many youths will be able to cater for themselves as white-collar jobs are not the only source of income.
He went on and thanked the people behind the success: Hellen Mtawali who is not only the head judge but a vocal coach together with her team of judges. Stunning Touch Production will present a record contract to the winner. Baraka FM have also contributed by giving the contestants airplay and Methodist Church of Kenya partnering with CAP YEI are offering technical courses to the youth who were willing to venture in entrepreneurship field.
Finals are set to take place mid December to crown the ultimate winner. On the D-Day the online viewers can tune to watch on BJLive Youtube and Facebook pages. Poles to vote for their favourite contestant along side the judges will be open during the show.
