Building Blocks of Development

Inua Mama Mashinani, Jenga Taifa women group yesterday donated building blocks to complete the construction of Madrasa Tul Azah in Mwatsalafu, Likoni.
Led by the chair person, Amina Ridhwani, the women came together to purchase the blocks in order to complete the construction of the Madrasa which had been put on hold for lack of funds.
While handing over the blocks to the Madrasa committee, the women spoke emphasizing on being careful not to be exploited by politicians who use them for political gain and once in office, forget about uplifting them.
“These are no longer the times of using people like plastic bags and when you are done you throw them in to the garbage bins” said Ridhwani.
Stella Wendoe, the patron of the Inua Mama Mashinsni, Jenga Taifa, Mombasa chapter patron, while speaking with Gilitics Media said that it is high time that women take matters in to their own hands and make sure they are the driving force when it comes to initiating development in their areas.
The women who come from many different community based women groups saw it necessary to come together and buy the blocks to build the Madrasa. They called for more involvement by women in development matters in Mombasa.
