Mombasa county Governor, Ali Hassan Joho today expressed his displeasure with the people of Mombasa on how they are treating the Covid-19 outbreak in the country.
During a press briefing at State House Mombasa, the governor called out the people of Mombasa saying that they need to heed to the directives issued by the experts if they are to come out of this period on the safer side.
Joho has for the entire period of this outbreak called for more extreme measures in fighting the virus and he reiterated these sentiment to the president as well.
The governor said “the county will not hesitate when we get to a point where we tell you, escalate the actions to stringent measures so that the people can listen.”
Joho told Mombasa residents that 90% of the responsibility lies with them in fighting the pandemic and they can avoid consequences by following the expert’s advice and government directives.
His statement came on a day when President Uhuru Kenyatta extended the dusk to dawn curfew and ordered the continued enforcement of the lock down protocol which restricts movement into and out of counties that are high deemed high risk.
The president was in Mombasa to meet with the Governors of the coastal counties to discuss the way forward in the fight against the corona virus.
Seven more cases have been confirmed today bringing the national tally to 343.
